Description
The Market House is a house that has a core dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a mid-19th century exterior. It features a timber frame and plastered walls, with the facade designed to resemble ashlar. The roof is slated and from the 19th century. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, which are 6-paned sashes set in flush frames, each with bracketed drip moulds. The entrance is a lobby style, with a broad architrave supported by pilasters and a bracketed hood; it features an 8-panel door that opens in two leaves, with the upper four panels being glazed. Inside, there is a stack made of white brick, which has three square shafts arranged in a diamond pattern, all topped with corbelled caps. There is a matching gable stack to the right with two shafts. The interior has not been examined.
