Description

HOXNE LOW STREET (west side) TM 17 NE 7/104 Red House 29.7.55 GV II House. C17 or earlier core, largely rebuilt mid C18 as agent's house for Oakley Park estate. Red brick with a hipped plaintiled roof. Earlier core was timber framed: a small part of the house to the rear is still plastered. 2 storeys. 5 windows, flush-frame sashes with glazing bars under flat rubbed. brick arches. Doorway has convex frieze and triangular pediment; 6-panel raised and fielded door in 2 leaves, the 2 upper panels glazed. Central ridge stack, the shaft rebuilt mid C20. To the right a 2-bay late C19 addition with large-paned sash windows under cambered wedge lintols with raised keys. 6- panel door, plain rectangular fanlight; original paired boarded doors into a coach-house.
