Description
Lawn Cottage is a former stable and coach house to The Lawn, with living accommodation attached, dating from the early 19th century. It faces away from the road into a stable yard and features a white brick front with random kidney flint on the road side, topped with a slate roof. The building has a half-H shape, consisting of a single-storey center and two-storey projecting cross-wings.
The central section includes two chimney stacks with small plain white brick shafts, two high carriage doorways with segmental-arched heads and double doors, and a semi-circular arched doorway at each end, which has a door with six flush panels and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Both wings feature sash windows set in deep reveals with flat gauged arches: the upper floor has six panes, while the ground floor has twelve panes.
The left wing, which contains the living accommodation, has had a side door blocked and replaced by a window, while the right wing remains unaltered and contains three stalls and a loose box.
