Description
Vicarage Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, built in two phases to create a three-cell house, with an 18th-century dairy wing added to the rear. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring a thatched roof on the main range and a pantiled roof on the dairy wing. It has two storeys and three windows, which are large-paned metal casements from the mid-20th century. The entrance is a lobby with a mid-20th century door. There is an internal stack in each range. The frame consists of five bays, with the two left-hand bays likely from a different phase, including the current stack and the parlour cell. The bridging beam in the parlour is positioned about one meter from the chimney breast, indicating that the stack was added later. The hall contains substantial plain joists and has blocked cross-entry doorways. The parlour chamber features reverse-curved corner bracing. The service end of the house has been significantly altered due to the insertion of a large mid-20th century staircase. The roof space has not been fully examined.
