Description
Cartref Hall Cottage is a pair of houses built as one in the 16th century. The building has two storeys and a three-cell plan. It features a timber-framed and plastered exterior, with the first floor jettied along the long wall, supported by six bays of varying lengths divided by simple knees and pilasters. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has an axial chimney made of red brick, which was rebuilt in the 20th century. The chimney has four square diagonally-set shafts on a square base, topped with a sawtooth cornice.
Cartref has 3-light casement windows with transoms from the 19th century on the ground floor and 18th-century windows above. Hall Cottage features mid-20th century steel small-pane casements. The entrance to Cartref has a boarded and battened door from the 20th century, while Hall Cottage has a framed and boarded door with a glazed panel. The interior has not been examined.
