Description
Wendys is a house dating from the mid or late 16th century, featuring two storeys and a three-cell plan. It is constructed with timber framing and plaster, showcasing much of its original roughcast plaster. The roof is pantiled, having previously been thatched, and there is an axial chimney made of rendered red brick. The house primarily has late 18th century or early 19th century three-light casement windows. The entrance door, which is boarded and from the 19th century, is sheltered by an open gabled porch with a pantiled roof. The framing is unmoulded and includes arch-windbraced studwork and heavy unchamfered floor joists, with a probable queenpost roof that is not accessible. Many of the main framing members have been reused from an earlier house. Inside, there are back-to-back lintelled open fireplaces. To the left of the main structure is a lower two-storey extension built around 1800.
