Description

The Cottage is a 17th-century house located on Jockeys Lane in Framsden. It has one storey and attics, featuring a two-cell lobby entrance plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, although the front wall was largely rebuilt around 1985 using plastered masonry. The gable walls are covered with 19th-century weatherboarding. The house has a thatched roof with a 17th-century axial chimney made of red brick. A late 20th-century gabled lattice porch has been added, replicating a 19th-century original. The plain framing is partially exposed, with joists laid flat in one room, showcasing jewelled chamfer stops on the main beam, while in the other room, the joists are laid on-edge. There are back-to-back altered lintelled fireplaces and a clasped purlin roof.
