Description
Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It has two storeys, and the original 16th-century section features a two-cell lobby-entrance design. The building is timber framed and plastered, with 19th-century panels, and the ground storey is underbuilt in 19th-century red brick, which is now painted. The roofs are covered with plaintiles, and there is a 17th-century axial chimney made of red brick, along with a rear chimney added in the 19th century.
The windows are mid-19th-century three-light casements, with transoms on those at the ground storey. A 19th-century gabled brick entrance porch, topped with a spike finial, features an arched doorway with a boarded partly glazed door. Inside, the hall displays 16th-century chamfered floor joists and an open fireplace with a cambered lintel. The principal members of the structure are exposed in other areas. The roof is a wind-braced clasped purlin type.
Additionally, a small hipped service block was added to the rear in the 18th century, and a parlour was added to the front right in the mid-19th century, during which the facade was also remodelled.
