Description
West End Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century and possibly earlier, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of timber frame and clay lump, with a plastered finish and steeply pitched pantiled roofs. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high. The entrance is located to the right of the three-bay main range, featuring a four raised panelled door set in an open gabled porch. The ground floor has two-light casements, while the first floor has four-light casements. A small ridge stack is positioned to the right of the centre. The left gable end reveals exposed plates and purlins, along with two-light casements. At the rear, there is an entrance into the left bay, with 20th-century casements and two gabled dormers—one from the 19th century with a small sash window and another from the 20th century. To the front right, there is a gable-fronted two-cell cross wing featuring three-light casements, exposed plates and purlins, and slightly taller eaves and ridge. A large axial stack, rebuilt at the cap, is centrally located on the ridge. The plain outer return has two and three-light casements at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
