Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of eleven houses on Bury Street, Stowmarket. The houses are constructed of gault brick with a slate roof, the rear roof slope being finished with black-glazed pantiles. The central three bays project forward, topped with a pediment. A platband runs along the first-floor level. The windows and doorways are topped with segmental lintels of artificial stone. A ground-floor window is blind on the left side, and a first-floor window is blind in the centre. The sash windows have been mostly replaced, although some retain elements of their original design. The doors are 20th-century additions with plain overlights, and while originally each had three vertical glazing bars, these remain only on the doors of numbers 48 and 50. The roof is hipped with five gault brick stacks.
