Description
Southwood Farmhouse is a building comprised of two distinct phases of construction: a front range dating to around 1800, and a rear range built in the 16th or early 17th century. The farmhouse has two storeys. The front range, which has three windows, is constructed of red brick that has been painted. It has a red brick, plaintiled roof with internal end chimneys. The windows, dating to around 1800, are three- and four-light, with transoms and cambered heads. They have iron casements and original leaded lights. A mid-20th century plastered and plaintiled gabled entrance porch, featuring a boarded and battened door, has been added. The earlier rear range, consisting of approximately four bays, is timber-framed and plastered and has a pantiled roof. It contains 20th century casement windows. The interior has not been examined.
