Description
Harvesters Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from around 1600. It has two storeys and features a three-cell cross-passage entrance plan. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with the framing exposed on the outside, showcasing arch-wind braced studwork. The roof is pantiled, having previously been thatched, and includes a central chimney made of red brick from the 16th or 17th century.
The windows are mainly mid-20th century casements with leaded glazing, although several original diamond-mullioned windows remain exposed and glazed. The entrance door, located at the cross-entry position, is a mid-20th century boarded and battened design. Inside, the original unmoulded framing is fully visible, with main beams featuring distinctive and elaborate chamfer stops, while the joists are unchamfered. The farmhouse contains back-to-back open fireplaces, one of which has a lintel branded twice with "E. MULLY," possibly indicating the identity of the timber's purchaser. Additionally, there is an original newel staircase.
