Description
Prospect House is a former farmhouse dating from the 17th century, constructed in two phases. It was renovated and extended at the rear in 1985. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof, and stands two storeys tall with a three-cell layout. There are three windows featuring mid-20th century small-paned casements. The entrance is a lobby style, but the door was not fitted at the time of the survey. The left gable displays 19th century bargeboards with a spike finial at the ridge. There is an internal stack and a 19th century external stack to the right, both of which had their shafts rebuilt in the mid-20th century. Originally, it was a two-cell house with an end chimney; the stack was enlarged, and a parlour cell was added in the later 17th century. The interior has been considerably modernised, with exposed framing of modest quality. The earlier section features diamond-mullioned windows, or evidence of them, on both floors.
