Description
Calves Pightle is a house dating from the late 17th century. It was converted into two cottages in the 18th century and reverted to a single dwelling around 1965. The building is timber framed, roughcast-rendered, and has a thatched roof. It is a two-storey, two-cell structure with a lobby entry. There are two windows featuring old three-light casements with slender horizontal glazing bars. A mid-20th century gabled porch with a plank door is present. The stack has a red brick cross-axial shaft.
Inside, the house has a four-bay frame, although most of the studding is concealed. The floorbeam in the room to the right has run-out stops, while the left room features a boxed-in beam; in both rooms, the joists are plastered over. There are several 18th-century doors and an 18th-century former cottage stair in the right cell. The roof includes clasped purlins.
