Description
Lime Cottage is a house that was formerly a public house, known as the Royal Oak Inn. It dates from the 17th century or earlier and underwent renovation in the mid-20th century. The building is timber framed, has roughcast-rendered walls, and features a pantiled roof. It is a single long range with two storeys and five windows, primarily mid-20th century casements. There is one 19th-century casement window on the far left, beneath which is a 20th-century former shop window. To the left of the doorway is a 19th-century sash window with glazing bars. The door is a standard mid-20th century design, while the doorcase, dating from around 1800, includes an eared architrave, frieze, and a pedimented cornice. Inside, there is an internal stack with a square shaft and another stack from the 17th or 18th century located against the rear wall. The interior has not been examined.
