Description
Valley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century and 17th century, with a rear extension added around 1800. The building has two storeys and one storey with attics. It is timber-framed and plastered, with the 16th-century section featuring jettying along the front wall at first floor level, supported by six slender chamfered brackets. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a central 17th-century chimney made of red brick. The farmhouse includes various mid-19th-century small-pane sash windows and casements, along with one window from the 20th century. The entrance door, which dates from the 19th century, is boarded and has an oblong fanlight above it. The 16th-century block consists of two cells, each with two bays, and the upper storey originally had a single room with four bays. The framing is well-executed with unmoulded elements and close studwork. This block was likely added to a medieval house that once stood to its right, which was demolished and rebuilt in the 17th century on the same site, incorporating many reused components that probably date from the 15th century.
