Description

The Elms is an early 18th-century house located in Walsham le Willows. It is timber-framed and rendered, with some original comb pargeting visible, and has an old plain tile roof. The house has a roughly L-shaped plan. The front range has two end chimney stacks with plain red brick shafts, and a wood modillion cornice. There are three windows on each floor, consisting of two three-light windows and one central two-light window. These are old casement windows with pintle hinges, featuring transoms on the ground floor and clear glass. A rear wing, treated similarly, contains the entrance, accessed through a small, single-storey porch with a tripartite tiled roof. Later extensions have been added at the rear. The timber frame is mostly hidden inside. A brick in one fireplace is dated 1708.
