Description
Bulls Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a core dating from the 15th or early 16th century, featuring alterations from the mid-16th century and later. It has a three-cell plan and a lobby entrance added in the 17th century. The building is one storey with attics, constructed of timber framing and pebble-dash, and originally had a thatched roof, which is now covered with pantiles. The early 20th-century dormers are monopitch casement style. There is a red brick axial chimney from the 18th or 19th century. The windows are early 20th-century small-pane casements. The entrance door, dating from the late 19th century, has four panels and is framed by a broad fluted architrave and pediment. Inside, the storey-posts of the central open truss of the hall are visible, showing damaged polygonal shafts, although the rest of the truss may have been removed. An inserted first floor in the hall from the 16th century features heavy unchamfered joists. The parlour cell to the left is a rebuilding from the 17th century, while much of the framing is largely concealed.
