Description

Green Farm House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with roughcast and a hipped thatched roof. The building has a three-cell cross passage plan and stands two storeys high. The entrance is located in the cross passage position to the right of the centre, accessed through a half-glazed door set in a boarded gabled porch. The windows include one, two, and four-light glazing bar casements, with hoodboards on the ground floor. A filleted ridge stack is situated between the hall and the parlour. To the left, there is a clay lump and pantiled lean-to outshut. At the rear, there are scattered casements, including an original ground floor four-light chamfered mullioned window and a first floor three-light ovolo mullioned window.

Inside, there is a four-centred entrance arch, and the hall contains mortices for a large ovolo mullioned window, a stop chamfered fireplace bressumer, and jowled storey posts supporting a stop chamfered cross axial binding beam. There is a small three-light diamond mullioned window opening in the service bay, arched braces in the front wall, and curved full-height passing tension braces in the parlour, with additional curved tension braces from the mid rail in the end wall. The roof features cambered tie beams and collars to the side purlins.
