Description
Pasture Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a steeply pitched pantiled roof. The building consists of four bays arranged in a three-cell cross entry plan, although the service bay has been demolished. It stands two storeys tall. The original entrance, located at the far left, is now blocked, and there is a 20th-century entrance leading into the hall from the lower bay, as well as a glazed door to the right that opens into the parlour. The ground floor has two-light glazing bar casements, hoodboards, and boxed eaves. An axial stack is positioned in front of the ridge to the right of centre, between the hall and parlour, with a rebuilt cap. There is also a right end pantiled lean-to outshut. The original gable end features 20th-century exposed plates and purlins.
Inside, there is a 4-centred arched door head leading to the original cross entry, close studding, stop-chamfered binding beams and joists, and jowled storey posts. A notable feature is a 4-light diamond mullioned window opening, along with cranked arched braces in the walling and to the cambered tie beams. The roof has clasped purlins with arched windbraces.
