Description
The Glebe is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is plastered and partially cased in brick, topped with a thatched roof. The building has a three-cell lobby entry plan and is one storey high with an attic. The entrance is located to the right of the center. The windows include 1, 2, and 3-light part opening glazing bar casements with hoodboards, and there are two 3-light gabled dormers. An axial ridge stack is positioned between the hall and parlour. The right gable end is brick cased and has French windows, a 3-light attic window, and exposed plates and purlins. The left gable end features an added external stack with an oven outshut and a small lean-to behind it. At the rear, there are scattered casements, a boarded door leading into the service bay, a 2-light lattice leaded casement, and one gabled dormer. Inside, the hall and parlour have stop-chamfered cross axial binding beams, and the parlour has stop-chamfered joists. The service end includes two axial binding beams and stop-chamfered joists. All rooms have 3, 4, and 5-light diamond mullioned window openings, and there is a newel staircase in front of the stack, with collars clasping the purlins.
