Description
No. 2 Brook Road is a house that was originally built in the 17th century, later extended in the 19th century and altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and has a thatched roof. The original structure consisted of two cells and likely had a lobby entry plan, but it has been extended to include three cells. The house is one storey high with an attic. The entrance is located to the right of the center in an added bay, which has a brick and glazed open porch and a half-glazed, half-panelled door. The windows are 20th-century glazing bar cross casements, and there is a two-light gabled dormer. A straight joint is visible to the left of the entrance. An axial ridge stack, originally located at the center, is now positioned to the left of center, while a 19th-century external stack on the right end tapers to a cap. The left end shows exposed plates and purlins, with the entrance situated towards the rear. At the back, there is a lean-to addition made of clay lump with pantiles, featuring brick facing, a stack, and entrances on the returns. The interior has not been inspected.
