Description
The Priory is a house with a core dating from the 16th to 17th century, significantly altered in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and featuring a 19th-century wing on the left. The older sections consist of a main range with two gabled additions that project forward to the right, the outermost being a full cross-wing. The building is timber framed and plastered, with some small traces of old plaster panels, and has plaintiled roofs. It stands two storeys tall with a small attic and has a varied arrangement of windows, including good early 19th-century casements with ogee heads, many of which retain square-leaded glass. The entrance features a gabled porch with a 20th-century battened plank door, and within the porch is a two-panel door that may date from around 1700. There is also a semi-circular headed boarded door in the 19th-century wing. Inside, there are two internal stacks, with the smaller shaft on the right likely dating from the 17th century. Additionally, there are remains of a medieval moat surrounding the property.
