Description

Pretty's Cottages are two dwellings that were originally built as one, likely in the 16th or 17th century. They have a probable three-cell lobby entrance plan and have been extended to the left, featuring a forward wing of uncertain date. The cottages are two storeys high, constructed from timber framing and roughcast. They have plain tiled roofs with an axial chimney, which has a shaft that is partly roughcast and partly rebuilt in 19th-century red brick. There are two end chimneys, one on the right and another at the front gable. The windows are mainly 19th-century small-pane casements. There is a 20th-century glazed flat-roofed porch at the lobby entrance. The interior has been partly examined, but the framing is almost entirely concealed. The cottages are included for their group value.
