Description
Pretty's House is a house dating from around 1600, featuring two storeys and attics. It has a three-cell lobby-entrance plan and is constructed with a timber frame and roughcast exterior. The roof is covered with pantiles and has an axial chimney made of roughcast brick.
The house includes 18th-century three-light casement windows with transoms and an 18th-century doorway at the lobby entrance, which has a six-panelled door. The upper panels of the door are glazed while the lower panels are fielded, and it is framed by an architrave and pediment with a pulvinated cornice.
The framing is fully exposed on the ground floor, with first-floor joists laid flat and featuring a slight chamfer. One girth has ovolo-moulding and dentilling. Inside, there are back-to-back lintelled open fireplaces in the hall and parlour. The parlour fireplace includes a reused early 16th-century lintel that has fine but damaged carving, depicting vinescroll with a central shield, embattling, and cresting.
