Description

The Magpie Inn is a public house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the late 20th century. It features a roughcast and colourwashed timber-frame construction, topped with a roof of plain tiles, and machine tiles at the rear. The building stands two storeys high.

On the left side of the façade, there is a shallow full-height gabled bay, likely serving as a porch entrance. This bay includes a canted bay window on the ground floor and a 2-light casement window on the first floor. To the left of this bay, the elevation has two 20th-century doors and, further left, an early 19th-century sash window with 6/6 glazing bars. To the right of the gabled bay, there is a third door and two early 19th-century sash windows with 8/8 glazing bars. The first floor has two 3/3 sash windows to the left of the porch and three casements to the right, one of which is a 3-light window, while the others are 2-light. The gabled roof has internal gable-end stacks at both the north and south ends, with the southern stack being partly external.

Inside, the public house has a limited open-plan style. The front room to the north features wainscoting made of horizontal boards. The fireplaces are blocked, and the bridging beams are boxed.
