Description

This is a former farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings. The property consists of two distinct parts: a 16th-century hall range (Friary Cottage) and an early 17th-century parlour addition (Thatched Cottage). The building is timber-framed and rendered, with a thatched roof. The projecting ends of the wallplates of the parlour addition are supported on original carved console brackets. It is two storeys high, with an attic in the parlour block. The hall range has a jettied western elevation, showing exposed joist ends and two original supporting brackets. The windows are mainly casements, some dating from the late 19th century, and others from the mid-20th century. There is an old plank door to Friary Cottage and a mid-20th century door to Thatched Cottage. An internal stack is located where the two sections join; the heavy, sawtooth shaft was rebuilt in the 1980s. The interior has not been inspected.
