Description

Coppings Farmhouse is a house dating from the 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, now faced with whitewashed brick, and has a Welsh slate roof topped with a gault brick central ridge stack. The house originally had a three-room plan, with a baffle-entry and later extended. The front facade has two storeys and a two-window arrangement of 4/8 over 8/8 sash windows. Shutters are fitted to the ground floor windows, and a central part-glazed door is present. A 3-light casement window with a 2-light window above is located on the left end of the house. An outshut is attached to the rear.

Inside, the right-hand side of the house reveals two bays of tall panel framing, with a partition wall having been removed. There's an inglenook fireplace with a bressummer and hood. The section to the left has no exposed framing and may be a 19th-century rebuilding or extension. A ground floor room features a 19th-century slate fireplace with painted marbling. Visible tiebeam trusses are located on the first floor to the right. In the outshut, a 19th-century brick fireplace is present, and on the former rear wall of the house, blocklike scoring indicative of the original stucco covering is visible.
