Description
Berghersh House is a house built in 1810 and enlarged in 1819 for Philip Meadows. The main block is two stories tall and three windows wide, with flanking blocks that are three stories tall and set forward, each one window wide. The house is constructed from gault brick, featuring limestone bands at the first and second floors of the wings, and has a moulded cornice at the eaves. The rear wall is made of red brick. The roofs are hipped and slated, with internal chimneys made of gault brick. The windows are sash types with flat arches made of gauged brick and small panes. In the left-hand wing, there are two dummy sash windows that include wooden frames and glazing bars. The entrance features a pair of four-panelled doors with an oblong fanlight above. The garden elevation, which is three windows wide, is covered in stucco. An early 19th-century print shows a one-story porch with a flat entablature and a flanking verandah.
