Description

Rookery House is an early 18th-century house, with later alterations. The house is timber-framed with rendered and colourwashed walls, set on a tarred brick plinth. It has a slate roof. The east front has two windows across its width. The ground floor has two 6/6 horned sash windows. The first floor has two pairs of early 20th-century casement windows. A former central doorway has been blocked. The roof is gabled with a hip to the south, and there is a rendered stack along the ridge. The south-facing return also has two windows across its width. A central doorway from the early 18th century has an arched, 6-panelled fielded door with the upper panels glazed. The doorcase features fluted pilasters and reveals with block entablatures, supporting a panelled 4-centred arch decorated with a scrolled keyblock. A flat, 20th-century hood is supported by console brackets. To either side of the door are 6/6 horned sash windows. The first floor has one 3/6 horned sash window to the left and a fixed window above the door. A stepped external gable-end stack is located to the west. The interior was not inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
