Description
The Shepherd and Dog is a public house dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations primarily from the 19th century. It has a three-cell layout and is one storey high with attics. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof that features 19th-century gabled casement dormers. There is an axial chimney from the 17th or 18th century made of orange and buff bricks, along with a 19th-century chimney of red brick at the left gable. The windows include 19th-century casements and sashes, as well as a large late 19th-century bay window with six linked sashes beneath a slated lean-to roof. The entrance includes a 19th-century six-panelled door, and to the left, there is a four-panelled half-glazed door. Internally, some unmoulded 17th-century framing is exposed.
