Description

Bridge Cottage and Bridge House began as a single house, later divided into two dwellings. The earliest part dates to the early 17th century, forming a cross-wing. A main range was attached to the east, which may have earlier origins but has been significantly altered with two later additions. The building is timber-framed and has a roughcast render over a plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high, with an attic in the cross-wing. The windows are mostly small-paned casements from the 20th century. The north-facing cross-wing has an overhanging gable, supported by original carved brackets. An internal stack within the main range provides heating for both the main range and the cross-wing. Two doorways were added in the middle of the 20th century on the south side. The interior has been extensively altered, with little of the original structure visible. One room in the main range retains a reused 16th-century bridging beam, halved longitudinally.
