Description

CODDENHAM HIGH STREET TM 1354 8/26 Granary-cart lodge, 50m - south-west of Hall Farmhouse GV II

Granary-cart lodge, C18. An unusual form with two draw-through lanes, open at each end; 3 bays long. Timber-framed and weatherboarded, the east face clad in corrugated iron. Roman pantiled hipped roof, with a gabled dormer containing a boarded door to the granary within the roof-space. The external walls have long curved rising braces. Along the centre is a heavy bridging joist supporting the granary, supported on posts on a sleeper wall and cantilevered at both ends. All framing members are heavy, and most are reused from a C16 building.
