Description
The granary-cart lodge, located 50 meters south-west of Hall Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and features an unusual design with two draw-through lanes that are open at each end. It is three bays long and constructed with a timber frame, which is weatherboarded, while the east face is clad in corrugated iron. The roof is hipped and covered with Roman pantiles, and it includes a gabled dormer that has a boarded door leading to the granary in the roof space. The external walls are supported by long curved rising braces. A heavy bridging joist runs along the center, supporting the granary and resting on posts set on a sleeper wall, with cantilevered ends. Most framing members are heavy and were reused from a 16th-century building.
