Description
The Bungalow is a house, likely built as a turnpike keeper's cottage, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of clay lump and has a plastered finish. The roof is monopitch, covered with glazed pantiles. The building is one storey with an attic and features a five-bay Gothick facade, with the central bay and the outer bays slightly projecting forward.
The central entrance consists of a pointed arched boarded door surrounded by a hollow moulded surround. Above the door is a small attic light with a cusped head. The flanking bays and the far left bay contain metal glazing bar casements topped with traceried pointed arched heads. On the far right, there is a four fielded panelled door with a Gothick fanlight. The structure has an offset plinth and a boarded parapet that is taller in the center. The steep roof slopes down to the rear, where there is a central white brick stack and an entrance. A 20th-century lean-to addition is present at the left end, which also has a stack. The interior has not been inspected.
