Description

HOXNE SOUTH GREEN TM 17 NE 2/126 South Green Farmhouse II Farmhouse, latterly 2 dwellings. Late C16 with C19 addition to right. Roof over main range replaced by one of shallower pitch, probably in C19. Timber framed with ashlar-lined plasterwork. Pantiled roof. C19 addition partly in colourwashed brick, with a slightly lower eaves. 2 storeys. 3-cell lobby entry type. C19 casement windows and 2 originals with diamond mullions (one with mullions renewed); 2 further original windows to rear. C20 boarded door. A second boarded door in C19 addition. Internal stack with rendered shaft. Small later stack between the 2 sections. Inside, much of the frame is exposed, except at the service end where all the timbers are concealed. The studding in the hall shows evidence for large windows. Chamfered-joist ceiling in parlour. Original newel stair.
