Description

White House Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an early 17th century L-shaped core, likely accompanied by an 18th century dairy wing to the east. The older section was remodeled in the mid 19th century. The original part is timber framed and faced in white brick, topped with a hipped slated roof from the 19th century. The dairy wing is constructed of colourwashed brick with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys, with the main front facing south-west.

The symmetrical mid 19th century facade features flanking pilaster strips and two inset sash windows under flat lintels, with 16 panes on the ground floor and 12 panes on the upper floor. There are brick hoodmoulds above the windows. A contemporary one-storey brick porch has an embattled parapet and a four-panel door, with the upper panels being glazed. The side windows of the porch have pointed-arch glazing bars. A central stack features a white brick shaft.

Inside, the main components of the early 17th century frame are exposed on the upper floor, showcasing ovolo-moulded floor beams. One upper room boasts an ornamental plaster ceiling, with each quarter containing four panels bordered by pomegranate foliage and Tudor roses, although part of the design near each side wall is missing. This ceiling is positioned above the level of the original and likely dates from the later 17th century. A mid 19th century well stair with stick balusters is also present.
