Description
30 Silent Street is an 18th-century brick house that has some 19th-century alterations to the front and is now painted. The building has two storeys and features a five-window range with 19th-century double-hung sash windows that have single vertical glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The central window on the first storey has a semi-circular head with a raised stucco keystone. A raised brick band runs between the two storeys. The central doorway is framed by a stucco doorcase with pilasters and a pediment. At the rear, there is a wing that extends east. The roof is partly slate and partly tiled, featuring a modillion eaves cornice. A rainwater head at the north end of the front, next to No 32, displays the monogram and date C above I S 1768. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 28 to 32 (even) along with Nos 24A, 26A, and Nos 33 to 37 (odd) and No 37A.
