Description
The lych gate at Cranfield Court was built between 1938 and 1939 by Cautley and Barefoot for the Cranfield family charitable settlement. It is constructed of red brick with brick and tile dressings and features a plain-tile roof. The gate includes wrought-iron gates and has an arch designed in the form of an aedicule, with slightly buttressed sides and a steeply pitched gable that showcases tumbled brickwork and roofing. The gateway is framed by ornamental piers on either side of a round arch made of tiles, with stone imposts and a key. A stone plaque in the gable is inscribed with "Cranfield Court Built and Endowed by Lilian C. Cranfield 1939."
