Description
The Lodge at Cranfield Court is a house built between 1938 and 1939 by architects Cautley and Barefoot for the Cranfield family charitable settlement. It is part of a group of almshouses. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain-tile roof with brick ridge and side stacks, showcasing a Vernacular Revival style. The structure is L-shaped and consists of two storeys with casement windows that have leaded lights. The gable-facing side includes a three-light window above a four-light window. To the right, there is a single-storey wing with doors and a three-light window. The sides and rear also have gables with similar window designs. The Lodge forms a significant group with Nos. 1-28 and 29-34 Cranfield Court and the Lych-gate.
