Description
The water tower, built in 1870 for the municipal water works, is located on Priors Hill Road in Aldeburgh. It is constructed of gault brick with red brick details and features a rendered basement, with the roof not visible. The tower is square in plan and rises four storeys.
The first floor has two pairs of tall recessed blind arches, with a lower round-arched recess in between. The west side includes a door accessed by an external ladder staircase. Below the second floor, there are corbelled brick courses. The second floor features two groups of three arcaded round arches set in square-headed recesses, with some arches being blind and others containing casements. The top storey houses a water tank on brick corbelling and displays three blind recessed panels on each side, topped with a crenellated parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
