Description
The Laurels is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations from the early 19th century. It is timber framed, with a colourwashed render and a slate roof, likely originally thatched. The house is two storeys high. The front has a door of six raised and fielded panels positioned to the left of centre, with a three-light window to its left, featuring ogee heads to the lights. To the right of this window are two similar windows with louvred shutters. Above these windows are three 3-light 19th-century casement windows, each with ogee heads to the lights within square surrounds. An axial three-flue stack rises from the ridge towards the right-hand side. The left-hand gable end has similar 3-light casements on both the ground and first floors. A 20th-century wing projects from the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This building possesses group value from its contribution to the streetscape.
