Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that incorporates the remains of the manor house of Brampton Hall, which was largely destroyed by fire in 1733. It dates from the late 16th century, with additions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The earliest part consists of a single cell of a timber-framed house that originally extended further to the west; this section is now mostly encased in red brick and features a roof made of glazed black pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with one window that has three-light casements. The doorway includes a 19th-century four-panel door, with the upper panels being glazed, and is sheltered by an open lean-to porch. To the left, there is an 18th-century parapet gable end with an integral stack, which features early 19th-century mock Tudor octagonal corner buttresses with crenellated parapets. The gable end of the early 19th-century wing at the rear is in marching style. Set forward to the right is a small gabled addition, likely from the 18th century, which is part red brick and part plastered. Inside, some studding and joists are exposed on the first floor.
