Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory that is now a private residence. It dates from the late 18th century, with a two-bay addition to the garden front added in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, which was formerly colourwashed, and has a slated roof.
The garden front, which faces south, features four sash windows with glazing bars set in flush frames beneath cambered brick arches. The right-hand wing of the building extends to ground level. The entrance bay is asymmetrical and slightly inset, with a doorway that includes an inset six-panel bolection-moulded door and a semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. The reveals are panelled, and the doorway is flanked by Tuscan pilasters and topped with an entablature.
The road front is symmetrical and consists of three bays, with windows that match those on the garden front. The doorway here has tapering fluted pilasters, a frieze, and a modillion cornice, with a boarded door featuring cover strips that form longitudinal arched panels.
