Description
Turnpike Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a mid-20th century wing added to the rear, creating an L-shaped plan. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It stands two storeys high and has a three-cell layout. There are four windows featuring mid-20th century small-paned casements, and a lobby entrance with a mid-20th century boarded door. Inside, there is an internal stack, and the interior showcases exposed framing and joists, along with newel stairs. The parlour and the room above each have one blocked original window with moulded mullions. On the first floor at the service end, there is one diamond-mullioned window and evidence of a second. Some original square-headed doorways are also still present. The roof has been replaced.
