Description

The pillar box at the east end of Double Street, located at the junction with Castle Street in Framlingham, is a Victorian letter box dating from 1856 to 1857. It is one of a pair of early Mainland type letter boxes made by Andrew Hendy & Co. of Derby. The structure is made of cast iron and features a square plinth with a moulded base, a panelled octagonal shaft, and a moulded shallow conical cap. It has a vertical posting aperture adorned with the Royal crown above, flanked by the initials VR.
