Description

Red Lion Cottages, dating from the early 18th century, comprise a rectangular plan building with extensions to the rear. The cottages are single-storey with dormers. They have a timber frame with a painted brick facade. The roof is covered in plain tiles, with gault brick stacks rising from the ridge. A two-course slate band runs along the eaves, while the outshuts have pantiled roofs. There are four dormers, each with a shallow-pitched lead roof and casement windows. Four windows are visible: a 19th-century three-light casement window with plank shutters is located towards the left-hand end, with the remaining windows being 20th-century casements. A raised and fielded panelled door is set within the left-hand gable, and is sheltered by a hood mould.
