Description
The Great Glemham War Memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, which is a Grade I-listed building, and is near several Grade II-listed structures. Made of Portland stone, the memorial features a wheel-head cross that rises from the top of a tapering column, which has a rectangular shape. The cross head is decorated with carved interlace patterns, and the slim cornice above the column is adorned with relief carvings of leaves and flowers. The column itself rests on a simple base.
The main dedicatory inscription, which is incised into the front face of the column, reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN HONOURED MEMORY OF (15 NAMES) WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY 1914-1918 ALSO OF (6 NAMES) 1939-1945." Additionally, there is an inscription on the front face of the base that states: "THE MEN WERE VERY GOOD UNTO US AND WE WERE NOT HURT. THEY WERE A WALL UNTO US BOTH BY NIGHT AND DAY 1 SAM. 25 V.15-16."
