Description
Old Crown Cottages is the eastern part of the former Crown Inn, which was later extended to become three cottages and is now a single dwelling. The building dates from the early 18th century on the eastern side and early 19th century on the western side. The older part is marked with the dates '17W + R84' and '17B + R84' on two bricks at first floor level. This section is timber framed and plastered, with a red brick casing on the road frontage, while the later part is constructed of red brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles.
The building has two storeys, with an attic in the older part only. It features a five-window range, predominantly consisting of three-light casements, with one dummy painted window. The older part has flat brick arches, while the later part has segmental arches. There is one six-panel door and one modern half-glazed door. The structure includes one internal and one external stack, as well as a brick lean-to extension at the rear.
