Description
Numbers 9 and 11 Market Place are early 18th century buildings that stand two stories high with an attic, featuring three gabled sash dormers. The exterior is made of colourwashed brick and topped with tiles. Notable architectural details include a cove cornice, six sash windows set in flush frames, and rusticated cambered arches. The entrance door is adorned with a fanlight and a wooden case. The buildings have mainly modern shop fronts, with four flush frame sash windows located on the northwest side at the first floor. Originally, these buildings were one structure and are an integral part of the old market. Numbers 1 to 11 (odd), along with Numbers 11A, 13, and 17 to 21 (odd), form a group with the butter cross.
