Description
Leiston House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a timber frame core that was completely encased in brick during the 18th century. It features a plaintile roof and stands two stories high. The facade has three windows arranged in a range, with three-light casements and flat arches. The doorway is asymmetrical and includes a six-panel door, an architrave, fluted Roman Doric pilasters, a frieze with triglyphs, and a cornice. The three central spaces between the triglyphs contain roundels, with the central roundel displaying a coat of arms. The building has a modillion cornice and a half-hipped roof. A fine ridge chimney is present, featuring a square base, a moulded brick plinth, and grouped hexagonal stacks. Inside, there is a fully panelled room from the Queen Anne period and a notable 17th-century oak staircase with turned balusters.
